How does your school’s mission statement align with the IBO mission statement?
Put the IB mission statement on anything you produce eg application process & web site.
DO – put mission statement the front page ofthe web site.
Go through all of the key words such as inquiring – how do we do this?
Knowledgeable – how do we do that? Caring & compassionate – how do we do this
Is there anything we would change? Yes – how about RIGOR!!
Using the Learner Profile – have kids rank themselves, and parents rank their students two times:
1) When they first enter the IB program have them look at the 10 qualities of the IB learner Profile and note where they see their child on each attribute on a scale from, for example:
THINKER
Very Much Like This / Like This / Not At all Like This
2) As they enter the final IB strethc once more see where the kids self evaluate / parents evaluate.
Your learner profile needs to have the learner profile explicit.

IDEA - Have a student newspaper with the different characteristics highlighted throughout the year – that do we think a risk taker looks like? Are there attributes of our students or people in the news or people in hisotyr or literature who personify these attributes?
IDEA All our teachers need to know the Mission Statement, IB learner profile and the goals of internationalism
The mission statement in action = the IB learner profile so this needs to be front and center.
We need evidence of having read and understood the learner profile – show up in posters around the school – one for each of the 10 items??
Evaluation – how do you use your scores once those results come back? You do not share another teachers scores with other staff.
IDEA Have a meeting with each teacher or group at the beginning of the year to discuss how the mark bands are coming out. Match up between predicted graded and real grades, and overall results.
